About Me

I have few physical ties anywhere, basecamps in Armenia and England, friends and family all over the world, and plenty of reasons to keep it like that.

I'm not a complicated person. I feel most fulfilled when sharing what I value with like minded people, testing myself, and looking for meaningful ways to contribute to the world. I live minimally. I'd rather have time than money. I try to respect myself, others and the universe. I don't know much about anything, as I'm only human. I try not to take life too seriously and sometimes fail. I think that if something's worth doing, it's worth doing well. I know I'll never be able to see everywhere and do everything. I try to remember that change is inevitable. I don't regret anything and I'm content with what I have right now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been a member of CS since 2006. I host when I can and surf when it feels right. I travel a lot in rural areas sleeping outside, but in cities Couchsurfing is fantastic because it puts me in touch with friendly inhabitants of urban areas - something that would otherwise be difficult to do.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
All sorts from all genres, as long as it's got spirit, appeals to my ear and isn't just manufactured. This mostly seems to be electronic music. Sometimes classical too. I used to collect records and DJ for many years, so making, listening and manipulating music is a core part of my life.

Books:
The Lord of the Rings, His Dark Materials, Watership Down, The Chronicles of Narnia, Guns Germs n Steel, The Selfish Gene, The World Without Us, The Travels Of Ibn Battutah, The Crossing Place, plenty of other popular science books...

Movies: Escapism through sci-fi and fantasy is as far as I go with watching movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelled alone across frozen Lapland, by night, under a full moon, in wintertime, on a bicycle. Could have been on another planet.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to fix a bike, design a hiking trail, shoot a documentary, improve your photos, build a website, cook a ton of different food, travel on $5 a day...

What I Can Share with Hosts

Local knowledge is my main form of currency these days. I like to cook for my hosts at least once - both to say thankyou with a good meal, and because it's the only chance I get to pursue cookery, which is a great passion of mine!
